According to John Edwards’ aides, he is gaining momentum in Iowa. The polls show that he is currently tied with both Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Recently, John Edwards’ campaign bought a full-page advertisement in The Des Moines Register which will run on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
On the evening news, John Edwards plans to have 60-second spots on the evening news to highlight his promise to combat corporate greed.
Mrs. Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton used the day to barnstorm separately throughout both eastern and central Iowa with several events along the way. The two of them would meet downtown in Des Moines for a New Year’s Eve celebration.
Recently, Mrs. Clinton got the endorsement from Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA). That makes ten Senate endorsements while Mr. Obama has two endorsements.
It would seem that Clinton’s campaign is getting overconfident. But that is not the case. The opposite happened, they have been lowering expectations. Her advisers say that any of the three leading candidates could be coming in first.
This was more a talk of being successful in the caucuses rather than winning them.
Mrs. Clinton said: “I’ve taken on the health insurance companies; I’ve taken on the oil companies, and I intend to keep doing it. You don’t have to do it by yelling and screaming. Save your energy; get the job done.”
In the case of Barack Obama, he has worked forward to win the undecided voters. His campaign has worked by phone banking and canvassing. He said if they won’t caucus for Obama, make him their second choice.
