Whoever wins in the US Presidential election in 2008 will be facing a tough task in taking the rough road of foreign policy. The next US leader will be confronted by domestic and overseas problems. In the home front, they have their illegal immigrant issue, the slow moving economy and the security of all Americans against terrorists’ cells inside North America. Overseas, they got Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Palestine and Israel issue, Turkey and Kurdish rebels, the economic might of China, Chavez of Venezuela, Kim of North Korea and the last but not the least, Mahmoud Amahdinejad of Iran. But this early, the Americans and the rest of the world is already expecting the new US leader, and that is no other than the Senator from New York, Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton. In all the surveys conducted by the various groups, Mrs. Clinton is a heavy favorite. She is well loved by most Americans, from Hollywood down to the ordinary citizens in the Bronx. And so Senator Hillary Clinton will become the new occupant of the Whitehouse. But could she really be tough? Mrs. Margaret Thatcher was once the iron lady of Europe; could Mrs. Hillary Clinton become the woman of steel of the Americas? Maybe or maybe not, it depends on the American voters to decide if they’re really serious to elevate Mrs. Clinton one step higher and claim the presidency of the most powerful country in the world, the United States of America.
