A look at some of the letters coming into US House of Representative on Friday, February 20, 2015, one in particular caught my attention.
It pertains to the submitting of a report by the Secretary of the US Department of Treasury to Congress, specifically the Committee on Foreign Affairs, under sub section 401(c) of the National Emergencies Act, 50 U.S.C. 1641(c), and section 204(c) of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, 50 U.S.C. 1703(c).
The Committee considers legislation that impacts the diplomatic community, which includes the Department of State, the Agency for International Development (USAID), the Peace Corps, the United Nations, and the enforcement of the Arms Export Control Act.
The House Committee on Foreign Affairs, is chaired by one of the most influential men in Congress Republican Ed Royce of California,..
The notation read as follows:
“A letter from the Secretary, Department of the Treasury, transmitting as required by section 401(c) of the National Emergencies Act, 50 U.S.C. 1641(c), and section 204(c) of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, 50 U.S.C. 1703(c), a six-month periodic report on the national emergency with respect to Ukraine that was declared in Executive Order 13660 of March 6, 2014; to the Committee on Foreign Affairs.”
