The USA Today Preseason College Football Coaches’ Poll has been released, with few surprises at the top of the rankings. Defending NCAA Champion Florida led by quarterback Tim Tebow sits at number 1, receiving 53 of 59 possible first place votes cast. At number two is Texas, led by Colt McCoy, following last season’s 12-1 record. Oklahoma is positioned at number 3, Southern Cal at number 4, and Alabama is cast at number 5. Rounding out the top ten are Ohio State at #6, Virginia Tech at #7, Penn State at #8, LSU at #9 and Mississippi at #10.
The remainder of the top 25 has Oklahoma State at #11, California at #12, Georgia #13, Oregon #14, Georgia Tech #15, Boise State #16, TCU #17, Utah #18, Florida State #19, North Carolina #20, Iowa #21, Nebraska #22, Notre Dame #23, BYU #24 and Oregon State at #25. Other teams receiving votes were West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Michigan and even Troy State received 1 vote.
