Stake holder workshop on Union Council Development plan held at Chitral.

CHITRAL: Two days stake holder workshop on UC development plan held by Upper Torkoh Development Network (UTDN). Main objective of the workshop was participatory planning sustainable development which was supported by Institution development component of Hydro power and Renewable Energy project in collaboration with AKRSP Chitral. Stakeholders shared their views with audience that Torko area has rich potential of natural resources which need to be utilized for uplifting of the area. They said that UTDN rendering meritorious services to inhabitants of the area and arranged so many training workshops on forest, live stock for formers of the area. Addressing on the occasion Abdul Latif president of PTI Chitral stressed upon the participants for positive participating in every developmental work with commitment, dedication and raises the spirit of volunteerism. He said that monopoly in politics should be eradicated and only honest, dedicated and committed people should be elected to come forward for service of the community. He said that provincial government of KPK approved and introducing village council concept and development will be start on gross root level to empower institutions. He said that 7 billion will be released to SRSP for different developmental schemes of Chitral.
Educationist Javed Hayat briefed the participants how to path the masses on participatory development. The participants were divided in different groups for group working giving them task to prepare presentation, indentify the issues with its possible solutions on different topics. Agriculture, live stock, forest, energy crises, road & communication, education, health, water and sanitation, disaster risk reduction were the titles of their presentations. Muhammad Karam Manager of AKPBS said that we need awareness and sensitization for implementing of different objectives. Professor Shamsun Nazir highlighted education and health and termed it the main key of development. He said that no nation can develop without modern education. Former MPA Saeed Ahmad and other also spoke on the occasion. At last they passed an unanimous resolution. Through a resolution they demanded from the government for early construction of Torkho road, extending of communication network to entire area of Torko valley. A large number of people belonging to all walks of life participated in the workshop.
