Rafiabad/Srinagar, September 10(Scoop News)- Former Minister and Member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil, today expressed shock over the killing of innocent people during communal violence in the Muzaffar Nagar, UP. He said that objective and aim of damaging communal harmony in India is handiwork of those forces having nefarious designs of dividing the nation on communal and regional lines with an intention to grab power through employing all unethical means. Vakil appealed the Prime Minister and Mrs. Sonia Gandhi to keep a close vigil on the situation that has arisen in the backdrop of the Muzaffar Nagar violence and take every step and put every effort in place to control and contain situation. He said people are pinning hopes only on Congress party, which has a history of clean and clear credentials in respect of maintaining secular fabric of the country since its inception. Vakil appealed the people to demoralize communal forces and denounce their agenda of spreading hatred.
Vakil also condemned recent Shopian killings and said that nobody has right to kill innocent people and demanded a time bound Judicial Probe into the incident and sought severe and deterrent punishment for those involved in this heinous crime. Vakil was addressing youth congress rally at Mundaji Pazalpora Rafiabad District Baramulla.
Appreciating the coalition Government for holding Panchayat elections in the state, former Minister said that these elections are meaningless unless Panches and Sarpanches are empowered fully. He urged the state Government to fulfill its commitments as the Assembly elections are now in sight and short time span is available for the purpose as Congress is committed to empower Panches and Sarpanches by enforcing 73rd and 74th Amendment. Senior Congress leader also urged Government to hold elections of Block Development Councils and Urban Local Bodies in pursuance of fulfilling its commitments made in common minimum programme as Congress cannot afford any inordinate delay in this behalf.
Describing youth as future of the nation, former minister and Member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil on Saturday said country has high hopes on its younger generation and they have to play a bigger role in the process of nation building.
He said youth are strength of the nation and should come together and join hands to become stakeholders in the decision making process of the country. “Just as future of any house is dependant on its younger generation, similarly for the Congress party, youth are the hope for tomorrow,” he added.
Vakil lauded the role of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi in motivating the youth to come forward and play a proactive role in serving society. He urged youth to be aware of those politicians who exploit them for petty political gains and just to grab power.
Besides others who addressed the gathering include Sr. Congress Leaders Ghulam Nabi Shah, Haji Mohammad Afzal Khan, Pandit Brij Nath Nehru and several others.
