Rafiabad/Srinagar, October 08(Scoop News)- Former Minister and Member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the stand taken by Rahul Gandhi in revocation of Ordinance, envisaging protection to convicted Legislators and Parliamentarians from disqualification, is a historical contribution towards Indian polity, which will not only prevent criminalization of politics but will help in providing clean and corruption free governments in India. He said that views expressed by Rahul Gandhi with regard to Ordinance should be a beacon light for those who desire to raise their voice against corruption and criminalization of politics.
Vakil said that the seriousness of the Congress in respect its resolve for eradicating the corruption, at any cost from all levels, is now crystal clear due to the stand taken by Rahul Ji. He said that every leader must show courage to tackle the menace of corruption to save the nation. Vakil was addressing public meeting at Gundmulraj Rafiabad.
He also appealed the high command to start its crusade against corruption and take stringent action against corrupt and tainted Ministers of congress party in the State besides urged the state government to expedite the process of initiating action against high profile dishonest persons and bureaucrats.
Vakil also expressed satisfaction over the stand taken by Coalition Government in Legislative Assembly on the revelations of V.K.Singh. He said the passing of unanimous resolution asking the Government of India to probe retired General’s allegations is a welcome step. He said that revelations of the Singh have jeopardized the main stream politics in the State besides respect and honour of the Politicians have received a knee jerk. He also said that time bound probe into the revelations is inevitable, keeping in view the sensitivity of the issue viz. a viz. prevailing political scenario and situation in this trouble torn state.
While highlighting the need for utilization of leftover time of the present coalition Government Vakil said that liberal financial assistance of GoI should be utilized properly and execution of projects be made time bound. He urged for empowering Panches and Sarpanches through implementation of 73rd and 74th Amendments besides holding of elections to ULBs and Panchayat Councils. Vakil made it clear that holding Panchayat elections in the State are meaningless unless Panches and Sarpanches are empowered fully.
Besides others who addressed the gathering include Haji Ali Mohammad Bhat Sr. Congress Leader and Ex. MLC, Sr. Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Shah, Haji Mohammad Afzal Khan and Pandit Brij Nath Nehru.
