Vedanta Aluminium Ltd (VAL) has launched a unique health initiative project, Dristi and Everson of Sac – targeting cataract and hydrocoel patients of Jharsuguda, at the CDMO office. VAL will jointly implement the project in partnership with the District Health System.
The selection of patients suffering from matured cataract and hydrocoel (collection of fluid in the scrotal sac), their fitness for surgery and date of operation will be decided by doctors and Senior Citizens’ Forum of Jharsuguda. The project will facilitate 300 surgical operations (150 each) by March 31.
Speaking at the inauguration of the scheme, Head Community Health, VAL, KK Saran said, "Many persons with mature cataract and hydrocoel have been diagnosed in the mobile health unit and multi-specialty health camps regularly organised by VAL, which seeks to act as a catalytic enabler or facilitator and will support the patients in mobilising them, their transportation and provide them with supplementary nutrition during their indoor stay in hospital and clothing besides providing them with some postoperative medicine support which is not in the stock of the district hospital."
