Valley Level Community Based anti-poaching Group established in Hindukush Region Chitral.

Valley level Community Based anti-Poaching Group has been set up to tackle poaching in Laspur Valley Chitral WWF-Pakistan Chitral Conformed.

CHITRAL: World Wide Fund for Nature Pakistan, Chitral has established the First Ever Community based anti-Poaching group in Laspur Valley which is one of the Biologically Rich area in Hindukush Region Chitral. “The intention of the Group is to form a watch & ward group at valley level in support the anti- poaching initiatives of Local Wildlife Department, WWF and Village Conservation Committees” said Mr. Shafiqullah Khan Field Biologist of WWF-Pakistan Chitral.
Mr. Khan said that the capacity building on watch and ward of the Community based anti-Poaching group has been conducted and Wildlife Field staffs and Members of the Village Conservation Committee has also been given representation in the group.
Individuals and organizations working on nature Conservation in Chitral appreciated the efforts and innovative approach of WWF-Pakistan and considered it as a true sense of Community Based Conservation. While talking to Media, Mr. Ahmed, Chairman the Mountain Society for Conservation, Research & Development (MSCR&D) Chitral said that this Community based anti-Poaching group will contribute for the Conservation of many important wildlife species in the area He also said that this innovative initiatives is a good example for all the organization working on Conservation of Wild resources in chitral.
Mr. Sultan Mast, a Village elder from Laspur valley said that” We are happy that WWF-Pakistan has reactivation our traditional Nature Management system, because these Systems are socially acceptable for all the communities in the area.
