Corporate Social Responsibility Conclave : Vatsalya Mela: New Delhi

Social Responsibility of Corporates for the Development of Women & Children” was the theme of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Conclave that was organized at Dilli Haat, New Delhi. This was part of the annual programme title Vatsalya Mela  The Conclave was chaired by, Hon’ ble, Minister, Women & Child Development, Krishna Tirath and was moderated by Rashmi Singh, Executive Director, National Mission for Empowerment of Women, Government of India.  The well organized Conclave saw active participation from corporates who spoke about their social responsibilities towards women and children.

Additional Secretary & MD, National Mission for Empowerment of Women ( NMEW) , K. Ratna Prabha  in her welcome address gave a background  of the conclave, and assured her willingness to take forward the collaborative initiatives  and  concrete ventures which would emerge from the conclave. Panelists spoke about various dimensions of corporates’ role in social development, and offered their whole hearted collaboration for furthering the aims and objectives of the National Mission for Empowerment of Women.  Suman Jyoti Kahitan, Senior Vice President, PHD Chamber of Commerce spoke about  CSR initiatives through PHD Chambers,  J. A. Chowdhary, President, TIE shared the efforts towards empowering women through employment in IT industries,  Sanjeeva Jha, from GMR Varalakshmi Foundation shared the range of programmes being implemented for community development through GMR. Other distinguished speakers on the occasion were  Anil Chawla, Head of HR for North Region, TCS ,  Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, Founder, Sulabh Sanitation & Social Reform Movement, Arjun Uppal, member, CII National Council on Development Initiatives & Vice President-Corporate Affairs, DCM Shriram,  Dr. Manju Kalra Prakash, Assistant Secretary General, FICCI/FLO and  Simmi Suri Group Manager CSR, HCL.  In the Q & A session the audience got an opportunity to clarify their doubts.  

The event was moderated by Rashmi Singh, Executive Director, NMEW, who also informed that the Mission would bring out a report of the proceedings soon.
