Velocity 173 RG Airplane Crashes in Las Vegas Three Dead

A small experimental aircraft called the Velocity 173 RG crashed shortly after taking off from North Las Vegas Airport, crashing into a home, killing the pilot and two in the home.

The Velocity 173 RG is powered by a propeller in the back of the plane and it can be built from a kit, says Ian Gregor, an FAA spokesperson. The pilot of the plane reported to flight control at the airport that he was having difficulties maintaining altitude and that he was going down. The Velocity 173 RG crashed into a home in a working class neighborhood, coming through the roof into the living room.

Police have not released the names of any of the victims but neighbors say the couple that lived in the destroyed house were friendly. Even with a blazing fire caused by the crash, no other houses were damaged thanks to quick fire department response.
