Jammu & Kashmir: Private telecom companies had been engaged in looting one and all in the name of prompt services. They even did not spare those who build infrastructure for them by becoming partners to them after investing huge amounts in the trade with a hope earn their two ends meet honestly by rendering services to them. But at the time of payment companies push them to wall by stopping their dues on one or the other pretext.
Reliance telecom is one such a company, which is topping the list of defaulters in Jammu region by depriving all most all of its vendors for due payments since years. Daania Construction Company is one glaring example which has been deprived of its payments since 2008. “Company purchased material worth 2.5 lakhs in 2008 but due to no clearance by company authorities till December 2009. At last go ahead was sounded by company in 2010 and the task entrusted was completed in February, but no payments were released” Managing Director, Daania Constructions said.
He added that even after expiry of one and half year company has only reduced a bill of Rs 3.14 lakh to Rs 2. 71 and had failed to even pay the final amount. He informed that according to company rules, principal amount if not paid in due course of time, the vendors would be given interest. He asked when and if principal amount is not being released for the year and a half how come one expects realization of interest amount.
Daania is not exception but all most a dozen of construction companies including Azad Constructions, Javaid Iqbal Wani and Co, S R Industries, Mahalakshmi Constructions, D. S Raina and Co and MSS Projects are equally victim of anarchy created by the private telecom companies in Jammu region particularly, by Reliance Telecom Industry, well informed sources said.
When contacted Corporate Commercial Head, Mr Rupesh Kumar Singh in Chandigarh said that if the cases being ignored payments be referred to him, he only then could be able to response after making through checking of documents in Jammu business unit. Official incharge in payment section when asked about the delay or refusal of payments said “it will need some time to check the files. Let check and call back after an hour”, but fact remains instead of calling back to impart actual report official incharge did not pick the phone despite several times buzzed his company allotted cell phone.
It is important to mention that on one hand Chairman Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani, in a conference of International Economic Policy held in Mumbai, urges government to make dramatic shift in governance model for better partnership between government and private sector by adopting faster decision making policy and on the other hand employees of his own company are delaying a piece of information in the cases pertaining its partners (vendors) in development.
