Jammu, October 05, (Scoop News)- Expressing his serious concern over truce violation incidences on the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) during the last 48 hours in different areas of Jammu region, senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh today emphasised on the need of maintaining spirit of the ceasefire at any cost for the interests of the common masses.
Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh said that instead of reacting to the kneejerk manner, governments of both India and Pakistan should take some concrete step to restore lasting and sustainable peace on the borders because further escalation of hostility on the borders was not in the interests of the common masses living on both sides of the LoC and IB.
In a statement issued here today, Yuvraj Vikramaditya asked the authorities to immediately provide relief to the families affected by the firing from across the border in different areas of Jammu region.
“The situation necessitate that instead of indulging into provocative utterance there was need that some effective steps should be taken to prevent another era of turmoil and destruction in border belt”, he said.
He recalled how residents of border areas had faced worst situation during hostility between India and Pakistan before announcement of cease-fire on the borders in the year 2003.
While condemning loss of human lives and properties due to firing from other side of the border, Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh asked the government to provide immediate relief to all the affected families.
Taking a cue of the statement given by Inspector General BSF, PDP leader said that common masses were bearing brunt of the hostility on the borders.
Recalling his visit to the border areas in the month of August this year, he mentioned that hundreds and hundreds of families had left their homes and hearths due to shelling from across the border. “During my visit to border areas in the month of August, I had asked the authorities to provide alternative shelter to border inhabitants in the safer places,” he recalled but added that nothing has been done so.
He also urged the administration to provide support and shelter to the innocent civilians who suffer the most due to shelling on the border. His emphasis was on the suffering and damage to the people of the State due to such ceasefire violations.
Vikramaditya was one of the first leaders in Jammu to visit the border areas of RS Pura in August when there was heavy shelling by Pakistan leading to loss of lives and several displaced villages. He has also been extremely proactive in supporting relief and rehabilitation work in the Jammu region during the devastating floods that hit the State in September.
