Vishwanathan Anand Becomes World Chess Champion

It’s Vishwanathan Anand’s third world chess title, but the relief at winning this one is palpable and the joy is unbridled.  The victory over Kramnik was especially sweet.  Anand is a stylist in his own right, and one of his fabulous wins among the three in this series is set to go down as one of the great games in the chronicles of world championships. The Indian overcame a spirited challenge from Vladimir Kramnik of Russia by drawing Game 11 of the 12-game series in Bonn on Wednesday to put at rest questions about his ability to perform against quality opposition in match-play.
