We’re officially in to the summer months now, with temperatures all over Europe and the US finally rising high enough for us to break out our summer wardrobes. However, with the warmer days come a whole host of fashion-related problems, from what shoes to wear to whether or not a linen shirt is acceptable when dressing for the office.
These multiple choices are far worse for women however, who have a much wider array of options when it comes to their summer wardrobe. Let’s take shoes for example – the sheer amount of potential choices for any given situations is dizzying, with scores of different styles, heel heights, heel types and designs available, each with their own level of formality and functionality. Add to this the number of events that tend to fill summer calendars, and you can see that the potential for fashion faux pas is far higher in the warmer months. For example, you might have a wedding to attend, followed by a summer BBQ at the beach and dinner in the evening. Can you wear the same shoes for each event? Are flip flops suitable for the beach BBQ? What if everyone else turns up wearing flats? Should you wear stilettos for the evening dinner? How formal is the restaurant? Would boots be more appropriate?
Luckily, the buying team over at JD Williams have given us a huge hand in avoiding some of these issues, producing a wonderfully illustrated visual guide to women’s shoes, which will not only help you choose the right pair for the right occasion, but will ensure you know the difference between your kitten heels and your slingback pumps:
