Srinagar, June 08 (Scoop News) – The Governor, N. N. Vohra, has felicitated the people on the eve of Khirbhawani Mela.
In his message of greetings, the Governor said that the festival symbolizes communal harmony and brotherhood which are the hallmark of the glorious pluralistic ethos of the State.
The Governor, on the occasion, prayed for peace, harmony, amity, progress and prosperity in the State.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has felicitated people particularly the Kashmiri Pandit brethren on the eve of Zestha Ashtami being celebrated by Kashmiri Pandits as Mela Kheer Bhawani at Tulmulla.
In his greetings message, the Chief Minister prayed for the peace and development of the society and well being of the people. He wished the day to be harbinger for all round development and tranquility in the State.
Peoples Democratic Party Patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and president Mehbooba Mufti have extended warm greetings to the people of the state especially the Pandith community on the occasion of Mela Khir Bhawani. In a statement they wished the state and the community the very best.
The two leaders said the Khir Bhawani Mela is an important symbol of the ancient and distinct past of Kashmir. It is so heartening that it provides an annual occasion now for the Pandith community for all over the country to come and interact here between themselves and with other communities. They said Pandiths are an integral part of Kashmiri’s Social scenario and we all look forward to the return of those who had to leave their homes in distress.
