Voters in Joe the Plumber’s Hometown Weigh-in on Election

So far, voters of Holland, Ohio, seem to be amped up and energized as they wait in the long lines of their respective polling areas. One must ask this question: What is the significance of Holland, Ohio?

The nutshell answer to this question would be: “Joe the Plumber.” Again, there are still people that may not know who Joe the Plumber is. Joe the Plumber is known as Samuel “Joe” Wurzelbacher, who is an out-of-work plumber.

Wurzelbacher had publicly challenged Democratic Presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois on his tax plan. The name Joe the Plumber was brought up during the second US Presidential debate. Afterwards, Wurzelbacher became known.

He became a popular figure for the GOP let alone the campaign for GOP Presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona. It is unknown if using Joe the Plumber had really helped or hurt the campaign.

Not long after the debates, Wurzelbacher joined McCain on the campaign trail.

Holland, Ohio is Wurzelbacher’s hometown.

According to 35-year-old Andrew Lesniewicz, a mental health counselor, he is voting for Obama. To Lesniewicz, Obama is more in touch with reality. He said: “He seems to be more in touch with reality. McCain has this mentality of wanting to fight everyone.”

According to Angela Zimmerman, a university teacher, Wurzelbacher has a lot in common with McCain’s VP running mate Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Zimmerman had some interesting words to say: “He’s someone who is not necessarily educated for a position or experienced, but who says something that the Republicans can grab hold of.”

Mike DeShetler, a father of three and a worker at the Jeep plant, said that Wurzelbacher needs to keep quiet. He adds that he does not know any plumbers that make $250K.

However, Wurzelbacher still has support. 39-year-old Shelly Lynch, a mother of three is siding with Wurzelbacher. She knows him as a customer.

Overall the people of Wurzelbacher’s hometown have weighed in on the US Presidential race between Obama and McCain.
