Your writing "Anticipation Of A Bright 2013" inspired this writing from me. Thank you.
This morning, as I do almost every morning, I sat down at my computer with a large cup of Tim Horton freshly brewed coffee, and began to go through the abundance of writings that I happily receive on a daily basis from the various writers I am a fan of and have chosen to follow, and I commenced to read their writings and leave a comment.
I was reading Ladyjojo’s writing entitled "Anticipation of a bright 2013" where she was discussing her plans, her wants, to hurry up her maturity as a Christian over the next year.
That reminded me of a joke I heard somewhere. Do you know how to make God laugh? Tell God "Your plans" for your future.
As I read through her writing I got the impression that she seemed to be in a hurry to get to where she thought she ought to be or needed to be.
I mean we have not yet finished with Christmas we’re still several days down the road from Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and Christ’s Birthday, the birth of our Saviour, and here she is wanting already to rush into 2013 and speed up her walk with God.
I could feel a real urgency in her writing. What seemed even more funny (strange), was that her need for racing time, was predicated upon her birthday. It seemed like she was in a big hurry to get another year older. Why? I don’t know nor do I presume to know.
When I finished reading her writing, I sat back and thought a bit about what I had read, and what thought Holy Spirit might wish to convey to her. I knew that Holy Spirit needed her to know something, but what?
I sat there reading it a second time, wondering why, really why she appeared to be in such a hurry to get older. I knew that wisdom comes with age, but, before wisdom we need knowledge.
Before we are even born, while still in the womb, our learning is started and knowledge is being imparted to us in many forms and in many different ways.
Whether mom is happy or sad, anxious or calm, peaceful or angry, whatever her mood happens to be, as we lay there inside her womb growing, we are effected by what she is experiencing. You want a little proof of this think "Morning Sickness for mom".
We as babies still inside the womb, are effected by all of mom’s senses as each sense sends an electrical impulse to her brain and her brain then generates different responses to the stimuli be it sight, or sound, or a taste or a scent. You need proof again think "Cravings"
Finally we take that trip through the birth canal and we are born. I don’t know if I will like something new and different but I need to get out of here so here goes.
We learn two important lessons immediately. First we learn how to breathe. Second we learn that life outside the womb is brrrrrrrrrrr! cold so, what do we do? We cry. Wow! communication. Our first attempt to acknowledge change in our little lives. Can’t see anything but I smell and hear and feel a lot of different things happening, and I’m confused and scared.
We learn to eat, and let others know when we are hungry. We learn to expel waste and let others know we are not comfortable. We hear and process sounds and touch and scents, and our tiny brains start processing all of this.
In the first couple of years of our young lives we learn to see, to talk, to move, to stand to walk as well as all of the other things one learns as a baby, as a child. From about age 3, we start learning our numbers and our ABC’s and if we are really smart, we might learn how to read.
We also might learn through toys and books about different life forms, like dogs, cats, bears, butterflies, and others, and if mom and dad really love us, they will start to teach us about someone called "GOD" an invisible person who loves us.
From the womb to the grave and beyond, every second of every day, year by year, we are learning and we are being tought by this invisible person called "GOD" who uses our parents and others as well as His Holy Spirit to pass down to us knowledge, knowledge that we will need and use throughout our lives. One thing I know for certain, we will never know as much as God, nor will we ever know more than God.
As I told LadyJOJO, in my comment to her, as God’s children we gain through priviledged revelation more and more insightful knowledge and wisdom from our creator about Him as "Almighty God" and are permitted to glean what we need when we need it, through His Holy Word The Bible and apply what we learn to fit our lives as He wills.
We should therefore not be in any hurry to move on to hastily in our spiritual lives, but we should live each and every moment of every day of our human existance, hungry to learn more from Him through His Word and through His Holy Spirit, allowing our spirits, our hearts, our minds to be like huge sponges absorbing every particle of Godly knowledge that we can glean, especially when God provides it freely.
God knows when it is fitting for us to move on to other things and he will guide us to where we need to be in His perfect timing, and we will have the knowledge, skills, and wisdom to do that which is asked of us.
