GUJRANWALA: Former Presidential Candidate and Justice Retd Wajihuddin has asked political parties to boycott upcoming general elections in broader national interests on Thursday.
He expressed these views while addressing at District Bar Association, Gujranwala. He contended that the oath of President Musharraf under the Constitution of 1973 is a sheer joke, as oath taker is working under PCO. He commended the lawyers’ struggle launched for the reinstatement of removed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
Judges, who refused to take oath under PCO, are our real heroes”, he said.
He was of the opinion that President Musharraf, even after shedding the uniform, had deep roots in the army.
Earlier, lawyers arranged a rousing reception for the chief guest. They showered petals of flowers on Justice Retd Wajihuddin and chanted anti-government slogans.
