Senior National Conference leader and party candidate from Inderwal constituency Abdul Karim Wani has blamed the coalition government for ignoring the far flung areas, where people were still lacking basic amenities of life.
Addressing a mammoth public rally here today, where he started his election campaign, Wani said that Kishtwar district has been ignored by the coalition government and failure on the part of state government is visible on the ground.
"The PDP-Congress government received huge funds from the center but people of the far flung areas have not seen any development on the ground level".
Lambasting the coalition government for ignoring the district – claiming that many rural civil and veterinary dispensaries were without any staff, with quite a few being run by pharmacists – the NC leader said that basic amenities like drinking water, electricity, roads and medicare facilities still elude people of this hilly region.
He said that many schools were without teachers and condition of rural link roads had been steadily deteriorating.
Addressing the public rally, Sajad Ahmed Kichloo, party candidate for Kishtwar constituency expressed concern over the unprecedented rise in rural unemployment, especially of the educated youth. "The steep rise of unemployment could aggravate the already bad law and order situation in the district in particular and the state in general", he added.
Urging the people to strengthen the hands of National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah and president Omar Abdullah, Kichloo said that it is only the National Conference which can provide a stable government in the state besides ensuring equal development of all the three regions.
Other leaders who spoke on the occasion include former MLA and provincial secretary Jalal Din Qazi, Brij Mohan Sharma and Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Mattoo.
Earlier a massive road show was organised in Chatroo, Mugal Maidan and other adjoining areas of Inderwal constituency. People from across the constituency came in thousands to participate in the election rally.
