Mossad has become the latest intelligence agencies in the world that is now actively recruiting volunteer spies online.
The Mossad, short for “HaMossad leModiʿin uleTafkidim Meyuḥadim”, is the national intelligence agency of Israel. Move over James Bond! The Mossad, the Israeli version of MI6, is one of the premier spy services in the world.
The Mossad (Hebrew: הַמוֹסָד, IPA: [ha moˈsad]; Arabic: الموساد, al-Mōsād; literally meaning “the Institute”), short for HaMossad leModiʿin uleTafkidim Meyuḥadim (Hebrew: המוסד למודיעין ולתפקידים מיוחדים, meaning “Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations”; Arabic: الموساد للاستخبارات والمهام الخاصة al-Mōsād lil-Istikhbārāt wal-Mahāmm al-Khāṣṣah), is the national intelligence agency of Israel.
The Mossad is responsible for intelligence collection, covert operations, and counterterrorism, as well as bringing Jews to Israel from countries where official Aliyah agencies are forbidden, and protecting Jewish communities.
The Mossad director ( Tamir Pardo) reports directly to the Prime Minister.
The agency’s online recruiting website, available in Arabic, English, French, Hebrew, Persian and Russian, is surprisingly user friendly.
The intelligence outlet calls on to potential candidates to “create history,” make their life and “join the invisible to make the impossible.”
The website advises potential candidates who visit their website to be patient in the process:
“Given the nature of the Mossad, the acceptance tests are complex and may take some time. The amount of time is subject to how suitable your personal details and your skills are for the position for which you are applying.
Candidacy in English may be submitted without marking a specific position.
Please fill out this questionnaire only if you have been invited for a personal interview.”
