War with Pak no option: Dr. Abdullah


 

National Conference (NC) Patron, Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said that war with Pakistan is no option and those who are propagating this option are the enemies of India. Reacting sharply to media reports suggesting that in the All Party Meet he had pleaded for strong military action against Pakistan, Dr. Abdullah said the reports are baseless, mischievous canards spread with malafide intentions & malicious designs. Dr. Abdullah after filing his nomination papers from the Sonwar Assembly Constituency here today said in the All Party Meeting as elsewhere he advocated the need for restrain and joint efforts to tackle the menace of terrorism. He said infact he had suggested to the Prime Minster that all the thirty foreign countries whose nationals were targeted in the Mumbai Blasts along with India & Pakistan must formulate a joint strategy and pool all resources to carry out meaningful investigation into the Mumbai incident and expose the culprits & bring them to book.

Dr. Abdullah said all political parties must rise above vote bank politics and work towards better Indo-Pak relations. He said no efforts whatsoever to weaken Pakistan will be in the interest of India. He said India & Pakistan who are both nuclear powers, should work in close cooperation with each other in different spheres to strengthen bilateral and that alone, he said can bring peace in the sub- continent.

 

Dr. Abdullah said people of Kashmir want peace to prevail between India & Pakistan because they are the worst sufferers as and when the relations between the two countries have been strained. He said National Conference will play a pivotal role in bringing the two countries closer and that alone san lead to a lasting solution to the Kashmir issue as per the aspirations of the people of J&K.

Dr. Abdullah said the enthusiasm of the people has made him confident that National Conference will form the next government on its own and will get a majority in the ensuing assembly elections

Earlier Dr. Farooq Abdullah filed his nomination papers in the presence of senior National Conference leaders Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mubarak Gul, MLC Devender Singh Rana and Irfan Ahmad Shah.
