London, U.K. – Music firm, Warner Music has come together with 7 Digtial.com to introduce MP3s without DRMs or Digital Rights Management systems, according to published reports. 7 digital.com becomes the first to introduce music in Europe from Warner Music International in MP3 format without DRM.
DRM technology has been widely used by the recording industry against illegal downloading of music. However, the new measure to go without DRMs comes amid dwindling digital sales.
Warner’s list of hits include titles from Madonna, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and James Blunt and the new MP3 releases will be unveiled in Spain, France, Ireland and Germany.
In a statement, Warner Music Europe’s President John Reid said, "This deal will offer music fans a new level of flexibility in their use of tracks from our world-renowned artists."
He added, "We believe that providing consumers with this assurance of interoperability will encourage sales of music downloads and ultimately help the development of new digital music experiences."
