PROVIDENCE, R.I.(GroundReport) – For people who have no idea what happens when you yank the chain on a toilet tank, Rhode Island is offering tours of wastewater treatment plants. The tours are part of what is called, the first annual "Rhode Island Water Infrastructure Month."
This Saturday tours of treatment plants have been arranged in East Providence, Bristol and Narragansett. Other tours and educational programs about wastewater management are slated to continue in October, reports The Associated Press.
In addition to the month long festivities. The Narragansett wastewater operators team, "Fecal Matters," are scheduled to compete in a national latrine-treating skills contest in Chicago. They will be competing against last year’s champions, the Rocky Mountain "Commode Commandos."
