Ways of Many vs God, by Owen Meany News and Views,
What kind of world has Democracy produced? You do not have to go very far, just look around and see that this modem world has dispensed with most loyalties, be they to church or family or president or king or even nation. In our world virtue has almost no place, we cannot expect to be governed better by a consensus of bad men than by a single bad man. Indeed, the single bad man may experience some moments of remorse or goodness. But in a group, such sentiments are swamped by the general passion of the mob rule and all go down together. We have sees recently in the ME a bunch of terrorists being elected "democratically" to government, but they are still terrorists.
We must identify and reject the well sounding but vain philosophy of "relative equality" in opinion and position, which continues to permeate the subculture of believers (Col 2:8). The Kingdom of God is obviously not a democracy, and for very good reasons. Whether we are ordained ministers or simply members of a congregation, our opinions, even all of our opinions put together, have no place or standing in the just and righteous rule of God’s Kingdom, unless they are in line with God’s will: "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us:" (1Jo 5:14)The sad thing is that most Christians are sold out to the idea of Democracy for they follow the cultural trend of this society and have installed and defend democracy in their churches. Anyone looking at the way we run and govern our churches would have no trouble to say that we are democratic. And yet every Christian is expected to be a Monarchist for we serve a King and not just a king, but the King of kings. Virtually all Christians would say, "Christ is the head of the Church, Eph 5:23" as we mimic the apostle Paul. But do we demonstrate real understanding and obedience to our King in our every day’s living or are we blindly following the pied pipers of democracy? Methinks that when Christians say "Christ the King" they do not fully realize that we are citizens of a Kingdom and not of a Democracy.
