WBO committed to Kashmiri Brahmin’s welfare

Jammu, December 22(Scoop News) – President, World Brahmin Organisation (WBO) Dr. P.V. Sesha Sai Aswamedhyayaaji today said that he was pained to see that a full fledged community of Kashmiri Brahmins has been living as refugees in its own country. This is an unparalleled example of displacement due to fundamentalism and terrorism in free and independent India.

Dr. P.V.Sesha Sai was addressing a meeting with the members of Panun Kashmir at Jammu today. A delegation of World Brahmin Organisation, led by its President, Dr. P.V.Sesha Sai who is on three days tour to jammu in a  meeting discussed the current political scenario and also the socio-cultural aspects of the displaced community of Kashmiri Pandits. Panun Kashmir delegation was led by its President, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo. The meeting among others was attended by Virender Raina, National Spokesperson, Virender Kaul, N.M.Gadroo, Vijay Qazi, Vimla Chrungoo and Sameer Bhat.

Dr. P.V.Sesha Sai, in his address said that there are glaring examples to suggest that the community has been made a victim of wrong policies all along. Kashmiri Pandits are part and parcel of national mainstream and WBO stands committed to their welfare. In close cooperation with the Panun Kashmir, WBO will soon launch a project for the betterment of the community. He also thanked Panun Kashmir for extending hospitality to his delegation at Jammu.

Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, said that the plight and human rights situation of the Kashmiri Pandit community has been taken to the national and international forums by the Panun Kashmir. The National Human Rights Commission on a plea of Panun Kashmir admitted that appropriate ‘relief and understanding have not been given to the Kashmiri Pandit community’ and despite facing apathy, the ‘Kashmiri Pandits have exhibited tremendous resilience’. It is a fact of history that the Kashmiri Pandits were refused co-existence and the demand of Homeland in Kashmir alone would satisfy the urges and aspiration of the seven lakh Kashmiri Hindus. Panun Kashmir is thankful to the WBO for its role and further appeals to the World Brahmin Organisation for its active support in the struggle in exile of the Kashmiri Pandits.

Virender Raina said that the community of Kashmiri Pandits also became the victims of cultural genocide, the changing of names of villages, historical monuments and temples in Kashmir is a part of the same. The destruction, vadalisation and usurpation of the cultural symbols and shrines of the Kashmiri Brahmins are rampant. There is an urgent need to preserve this ancient legacy in order to herald a cultural renaissance of Kashmiri Pandits.
