Srinagar, October 4 (Scoop News) – J&K Women’s Development Corporation (WDC) today organized one day women’s camp for entrepreneurs which was inaugurated by the Social Welfare Minister Ms. Sakina Itoo.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stressed upon the participants to take benefits of the various income generating schemes launched by the government for the upliftment of women folk.
Ms. Itoo said that there is greater scope for setting up units in Agriculture, Horticulture, Handicrafts and other sectors for which government is providing the subsidy to the unit holders.
The Minister said that setting up of the units will not only make them self-reliant but will provide employment opportunities to them. She appreciated the efforts being made WDC for the development of the poor and marginalized beneficiaries.
Earlier in her welcome address Managing Director WDC Dr. Naheed Soz highlighted the various achievements and schemes in vogue for the welfare of the women folk.
Ms. Soz also spoke on the female feticide and asked the participants to fight this menace. She also announced one training centre for 15 beneficiaries under NBCFDC Scheme in the Tie and Dye mirror work activity.
The Minister on the occasion distributed cheques worth Rs 158.75 lakh under different schemes being run by the corporation among various beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries, Panchayat members, officers of social welfare, education, health and others participated in the camp.
