We can’t be in peace without equality, says Kiir

The President of the Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit at reconciliation prayers in his office has called for equality, justice and peaceful coexistence among communities to champion development in the country. “We can’t be in peace without equality and there will be no development with peace” Salva told the Reconciliation Committee. Kiir urged the reconciliation Committee to carry the message of peace across South Sudan. Preach the word of reconciliation in your churches, mesquites and communities meetings” Kiir said.
Kiir said that South Sudanese need peace. “For those who fear that a return to war is imminent, I rest assured that I remain committed not to return this country to war, as a career soldier I truly know the devastation of war and understand the terrible price which it would exact upon our people” Kiir told the parliament.
He said that he is standing to safeguard the implementation of the matrix agreements reached with Sudan regardless of any cost, saying that it’s a appoint of principle because South Sudanese need peace. “I occupy the position of the president in order to seek the best for all our people and I say the best cannot be achieved by a return to war” Kiir said.
He said that he will not accept unnecessary shedding of blood in South Sudan again. “Let us be as patients as we can, let us not respond to provocation, let us not inflame our people to retaliate and let us seek all possible ways to find peace for our people” Kiir urged.
The National reconciliation committee has embarked on reconciliation prayers. The prayers which started from The National Parliament have gone through the council of Ministers and office of the President. The committee confirmed the reconciliation campaign will then move down to the ground. The chairperson of the national reconciliation committee Daniel Deng appealed to the leaders, citizens to repent from their sins in order to receive blessing. The Reconciliation committee was compost of religious leaders, civil society activities and politicians. The committee embarks on mission to realize peaceful South Sudan.
