PESHAWAR: The central leader of the nationalist party in alliance with Peoples Party in government of Pakistan, Awami National Party (ANP), Asfandayar Wali Khan has said that if pressure develops from international community against the Swat Peace Accord, even then they will keep the agreement alive, for which they are ready even for quitting their ministries.
“ We are ready for any kind of sacrifices even to quit our ministries for Swat Peace Accord”, the central president of the nationalist party ANP Asfandayar Wali Khan told journalists here in Peshawar today. He said that they had taken President Asif Ali Zardari and army’s high-ups in their confidence while signing Swat Peace Accord and announcing Sharia System for establishing sustainable peace in the area.
He said that copy of amended transcript the Adal-o-Regulation Ordination has not been sent yet to President Zardari. Provincial law ministry is amending the Adal-o-Regulation ordinance (Sharia System), which will be sent to president for approval very soon, he added.
“Anxiety and concern of the NATO and any other on the peace process in Swat in not our problem, we should have to take those steps which are in best interests of region”, nationalist leader Asfandayar added. He termed criticisms over the Swat Peace Accord as unsubstantiated and baseless.
He stressed that now it is the responsibility of the NWFP government and nation make the agreement successful and play constructive role. “ In case, pressure increases from international community, they are ready even to quit their ministries for the peace in the region and for the survival of the Pukhtoon nation’, he revealed.
