We must not waste the sacrifices given by our martyrs: AIKS

Jammu, September 14 (Scoop News) – Recalling the martyrs how they were bullied, tortured and done to death in cold blood, Dr. K.L.Chowdhury, renowned physician, writer, poet and a philanthropist stressed  not to forget that our adversaries have not yet finished their work by merely uprooting us from our homeland and  engineering our exodus but they are scheming, and conspiring to hound us even in exile, to make life difficult at each step, to drive us further into desperation and to squeeze all possible space – physical, psychological, social and cultural, economic and political in J&K to choke us out of existence.

All India Kashmiri Samaj paid floral tributes to the Kashmiri Pandit martyrs’ at Muthi Ghat,Jammu on Tuesday evening by lighting hundreds of candles and keeping two minutes silence in memory of them. The Shrdhaanjali meet started with the religious discourses and singing of Bhajans by Anand Swami  Pran Nath Bhat Garib (Bhai Ji)..

While addressing the gathering Dr. K.L.Chowdhury explained the philosophy of lighting of candles on the martyrs’ day, Dr. K.L.Chowdhury, said that it expresses our deep indebtedness and gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives to save us and it dissolve the darkness of terror and to banish the fear that has been let lose on us by people driven by wickedness, hatred and intolerance. Recalling the martyrs how they were bullied, tortured and done to death in cold blood, Dr. Chowdhury stressed  not to forget that our adversaries have not yet finished their work by merely uprooting us from our homeland and  engineering our exodus but they are scheming, and conspiring to hound us even in exile, to make life difficult at each step, to drive us further into desperation and to squeeze all possible space – physical, psychological, social and cultural, economic and political in J&K to choke us out of existence.

He said, the fault of Tikka Lal Taploo, Lassa Koul, Prana Ganjoo, Prem Nath Bhat, Premi and his son, and hundreds of others- teachers and engineers, lawyers and judges, nurses and doctors, professors and professionals, social activists and shopkeepers, street walkers and farmers and others was that they were Kashmiri Pandits and Indians. We must not also forget the hundreds and thousands of people who lost their lives prematurely in exile fighting displacement, depression and disease. The blood of all these martyrs is not only on the hands of fanatics and fundamentalists, jihadis and Islamists,  but  also on the successive state rulers who have let loose an inexorable tyranny through ideological, administrative, constitutional and judicial processes that have been maneuvered and violated in a way blatantly prejudicial to the minorities, he said.  The impalpable, insidious, invisible state terror is worse than the terror of the gun.

Dr.Chowdhury said,Kashmiri Pandits have no sympathizers, no partners, no allies outside our community; we are up against an array of adversaries including an unfeeling, uninformed nation, an inimical state Govt., an impotent Central Govt. and hostile media. It is our battle, our crusade and we have to fight it together, and sink personal egos and differences and stop internal dissensions and denigrations of each other

Commenting on the demand of Political Empowerment Dr. Chowdhury said that some have confined its meaning to the nomination or reservation of an MLA or MP or member of the municipal corporation. Living in an age of coalition politics how they forget the role and importance of even a single MP or MLA. Have they forgotten how Shamim Ahmad Shamim would roar in the Parliament and hold the MPs in thrall and how Saifudin Soz brought down Vajpayee ministry single-handed? Unfortunately by disagreeing even on employment package the youths have become directionless and have been made to sign a contract with stringent conditions akin to servitude, he said.

Anand Swami  Pran Nath Bhat Garib  said that we must not waste the sacrifices given by our martyrs’

Rohit Pandita in his address laid stress on preserving the rich cultural ethos of Kashmiri Pandits which have a history of 6000 years. He urged the youths to come forward and take lead role for the struggle of the community cause.

Another youth leader, Sanjay Koul while condemning the role of Central and state governments in multiplying the miseries of Kashmiri Pandits said that even the basic amenities necessary for keeping the community alive are not given ears. Only terrorists have not made us suffer but the authorities at the helm of affairs have their hands in adding salt to our wounds.

D.N.Kisu,A.K.Raina, Dr. Usha Tikoo, Vijay.Kashkari, Virender Kuchroo, Ashok Bhat, Vir Ji Bhat and Ashok Ji were among other dignitaries present in the meet.
