On November 27, 2013 I received a note from Congresswoman Speier regarding Thanksgiving:
“Thanksgiving is almost here — a time for our family and close friends to join together with each other to appreciate all that we have in life and for the opportunities that lie ahead. It is also a time to think of others and I know many of you will volunteer your time to help feed the hungry, contribute to food banks and lend a helping hand to those in need as the holiday season starts.”
“If you are looking for volunteer opportunities, I invite you to join my Speier Corps. On our next two work days we will be with the San Mateo County Human Services Agency’s Children’s Fund Holiday Toy and Clothing Drive. On Tuesday, December 17 and Thursday, December 19, 2013 we will assemble and package holiday gifts for children and teens who would otherwise receive no presents at all. You can sign up below”, she said.

A care package from home to our troops overseas goes a long way in raising morale and some of our cities including San Mateo and Burlingame coordinate such as an effort.
