Weather Underground, the nation’s first online weather site, has launched a real-time forest fire monitoring feature on their Web site, www.wunderground.com. The service shows fires all across America and Canada and the smoke cover they cause, updated in real-time.
Weather Underground’s Fire Layer takes data from satellites and on-ground weather radar to provide information about wildfires around the nation, how they might affect communities in their paths and how weather patterns will affect their spread.
To access Weather Underground’s fire map, users can visit www.wunderground.com/wundermap/fire. Due to a high interest in the fire maps during the summer season, www.wunderground.com is not always available. If the site is down when you would like to use it, check back in a little while and it will probably be operational.
