The naga tribals of North eastern state of Nagaland have their own
customs of marriage.The young boy and girl once they have decided to tie the nuptial knot do it at the middle of the night without the consent of the parents.
The parents come to know that daughter or son is married when they get up in the morning and find that their daughter is carrying a load of fire wood to another house that is of their future son-in -law.
This type of marriage is typically prevalent among the Khiemnugans tribe of Tuensang District of Nagaland.
After the absolute secret marriage the boy brings the girl home with the help of few of his close friends.
A cock is killed to sanctify the marriage and the boy and the girl dip their fingers in the blood to seal their affection and loyalty to each other.
This Naga tribe of Khienmungans practise monogamy but can divorce and remarry by consent.
