Wow- I thought this day would never come.
I thought LBJ would return someday to the Cavs.
That’s not the day I am talking about.
The day I am talking about is a day where I would sit in front of a computer reading a letter dictated by LeBron, and I would cry.
Watching someone grow into the person they can be is what I do as a coach. I rarely get to see the transformation come to fruition. I may work with someone at one point in their life, and then they go on.
It is easy for me to see what someone can become even when they can’t see it. To see and hear the person become all they can be, is something I don’t get to WITNESS very often.
In reading what will now become known as THE LETTER, I got to read and feel a young man strive to fulfill what he can become. There is a line in Dances with Wolves, when Kicking Bird said to the Kevin Costner character, “of all the trails in this life, there are some that matter most. It is the trail of a true human being. I think you are on this trail, and it is good to see.”
To LeBron, you are on this trail, and it is good to see.
