What Are the Qualities of a Great Friend?

What are the qualities of a great friend? A friend is someone who accepts you as you are.  I don’t have to walk on eggshells. A friend is someone you can trust and be honest with. A friend is someone who has seen you at your worst and does not hold it against you … unconditional love says it best.

A friend is someone who stays with you through the good times and the bad times … through thick and thin.  You can have many friends but how many are ‘"true friends"? A true friend is someone who sticks with you even when you are going through the most difficult time of your life. If you can find even one in your lifetime then you are very lucky indeed. That friendship is priceless.

It is difficult to select one quality of being a good friend from the rest. It is better if they have all the qualities or most of the qualities of being a true friend. It would be a miracle to find a friend like that. Would you like to have someone who is honest, loyal, caring, and concerned about you and with a sense of humor? Looking for a friend who is like a sister/brother, someone who can understand you and who is there for you when you need them?

Well, if you can find a pal like that you can consider yourself lucky.  It would be as if you found gold in the sand.

Some say it is better to stay alone if you can’t find a good friend. Others say that it is better to accept them as they are and expect little. When we expect something more then we can become miserable. If we are not expecting anything from them we can be somewhat satisfied. I’m not sure if this is altogether possible to do … or would even want to do.

We should give friendship without expecting them to return it. Then when you do see their smiling faces you can find happiness. It’s very rare indeed to find a "true friend".  If you do find such a friend, don’t ever let them go.
