Just introduce yourself.Resist the temptation to say ,"Guess who is speaking" or things like that.As a rule, more often than not, such thing would put you in very embarrasing situations.
Come straight to the point.Cut all the dramatics.You don’t know where the other person is.He may be in the middle of a meeting or in his Boss’s room.
No loose talk whatsoever on the phone.Your call may be received on the speaker phone.
Be clear in what you want to express.Remember, however hard you gesticulate, you will not be seen on the other side.
Be brief. When you have said what you wanted to say, gracefully hang up. Just resist the temptation to say,"then what else is news?".
