What is Your Stress Type?

I have an amazing headache.

Stress is the silent killer of the modern age, yet historically stress has saved the human race from extinction.  Could history be changing humanities fate just because we have been unable to manage the stress caused by our hectic, fast- paced lives?

Stress threatens damages our bodies and eventually causes us to become ill. Or for many, it causes annoying yet usually ignored symptoms like poor concentration, lack of focus, low energy, digestive issues, pain, occasional headaches or depression.  Many of us still function when these symptoms come up and only do something when the symptoms become worse or other symptoms that we can not ignore, surface.

Those who manage their stress win, those who don’t fall to the way side and are passed up for promotion, fail in relationships, take poor care of themselves, lose money in their businesses and make poor decisions.

Stressed people are like alcoholics; the focus is always on them and their problems because they have nothing to give.

Knowing your stress type helps you to understand yourself and enables you to cope with stress in a healthy way.  The different stress types are ~ Stressed Out, Stressed Up, Stressed In and Stressed Down.

Stressed Out Types have everything coming at them they are out of their minds in the sense that they are so exhausted that they can’t think, respond, react or be present in their lives.  They are out of their life.

Stressed In Types on the other hand are in their heads worrying all the time.  They have recurrent thoughts or compulsive thinking and behaviors to manage their anxiety.   They are in their heads too much and also unable to be present to what is happening in their life.  They like to zone out a lot.  TV might be a great past time for them.

Stressed Up Types are on overdrive.  They tend to be hyper and filling their day with activities to get it all done.  They are headed for a crash.  They tend to be testy and impatient.  Anxiety is high and everything is a crisis.

Stressed Down Types are the opposite of the Stressed Up Type, they tend to be dull and closed off like the Stressed In Type though they are not in their head.  They let things go

The types I’ve mentioned are in the extreme; you may not exhibit the type in exactly the way it is described but have some attributes of a type.  You may also se yourself as a combination of any of the types.  I hope that by seeing the different stress types are you may identify which one you are and begin to manage stress better.
