A simple human failure led to a number of confusions and in the end two DNA tests that finally resolved the disputes amicably.
At a Chennai Royapuram hospital, a Hindu and a Muslim women gave birth to two newly born babies, a girl and a boy respectively. But in a mess up created by the hospital staff, the babies were interchanged among the mothers, though as per the hospital records, their respective children had been correctly recorded.
Immediately after the mess up, within a few minutes, when the hospital staff realized their mistake, they informed it to the respective mothers, to the Hindu mother that she actually delivered a girl child and the muslim mother that she delivered only a boy. Though the muslim mother was willing to accept what was told by the hospital staff, the Hindu mother was not willing to part with the baby boy.
However, the respective fathers, Mr.Elangovan, the husband of hindu woman, and Syed Ansari, the husband of the muslim lady Farheed Begum, wanted to resolve the dispute scientifically. Since both the newly born babies were of B + blood group, the dispute had to be resolved only through DNA tests, underwent by the fathers of the child.
Finally DNA tests resolved the disputes, proving that the baby boy belonged to Farheed Begum and the girl child belonged to the Hindu lady. Both the fathers after undergoing DNA tests said that they wanted their own child and were very particular that their own child should not be brought up in another house.
Thanks to the DNA tests that finally helped to resolve the unnecessary controversy racked up by the reckless and careless hospital staff.
