The officials of Florida prison are struggling to find the reason behind two recent unsolved episodes of door opening in two tight security prisons.
They apprehend that a computer glitch may be responsible for these two simultaneous incidents. In both the facilities entire system are mechanised involving locks on cell doors, surveillance cameras, water and electricity, and other systems.
On 13 June, at Turner Guilford Knight in Miami, Florida, a “group release” button in the computerized lock system was activated and guards at the Correctional Centre had to run to hold prisoners back into their cells.
Anyone control any of these functions provided one gets full access to the network. The network can be accessed either from a touch-screen monitor in the guard tower, or from outside , by way of a security hole as the Guards say they were taken unawares. However, released recording of surveillance system does not identify the snitch
There is every apprehension that anyone abused a weakness in the electronic system recently upgraded as part of a $1.4 million security upgrade.
The Police Department of Dade County in Miami discloses that the system’s computer logs depicts there was an “operator error” and the investigators are trying to find its meaning.
