Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia:-
Couples in Malaysia who came across difficulties when trying to get married will always try their Plan B. If not succesful back home in Malaysia, try Thailand.
Rumour has it that the procedures relating to application for marriage is simpler there than back home. Whether there is truth or not in that story no one knows for sure. However, Southern Thailand is really popular when it comes to getting married.
Yet there are stories proving otherwise as stated below.
The Syariah Court [Islamic Court] in Kuala Terengganu in the eastern State of Terengganum, Malaysia, fixed the date of June 4th to determine the marital status of a woman.
The woman, Siti Fatimah Yaakub married her second husband Wan Yusuf Long from Kampong Sekati Manir in 2005. The marriage took place at the Songkhla Religius Department, Thailand.
Soon after that, the marriage got rocky and she filed for divorce in the same court.
According to the Syariah Law, a woman can proceed a demand for the utterance of divorce from her husband if several conditions are met. Among them is physical abuse. When a judge is satisfied she will then pay an exemplary amount of RM1 to the court and she is then officially divorced.
On March 28, 2008, Siti Fatimah remarried Muhammad Abdullah in Kuala Terengganu. By this time she believed that her divorce from her second husband has been finalised by the Songkhla Religious Deparment.
Her former husband, Wan Yusuf, hearing that she had remarried lodged a police report claiming that Siti Fatimah is still his legal wife.
