Some people think that the family is the most important influence on young adults. Other people think that friends are the most important influence on young adults.
Nowadays, human beings are influenced by people they are relatively close to or someone who stays with them for a long period of time. For generations, there has been a debate over the issue whether the influence from family or from friends that has more effect on young adults. Being influenced by the family is believed to be the best because young adults can be supervised in rather virtuous ways. However, it has not yet been agreed that family is the most important influence on teenagers. In my point of view, i have many reasons to believe that friends are the most important influence on young adults.
First of all, because young adults or teenagers have to go to high school, they will definitely meet several friends of their age and it is more likely that they will spend more time together as well as begin to build close relationship among each other. Even though those teenagers see their parents everday, they have to go to school spending at least 6-8 hours a day. As a result, mutual trust is created among friends. Futhermore, having friends of the same age, these teenagers can communicate and understand each other than their parents because they are in the same situations as teenagers. When young adults can communicate among each other better, they tend to listen to each other more than to adults or their parents. Moreover, sometimes friends can give advise that parents cannot, such as talking about some kind of issues that they know they will not be able to feel comfortable talking about to their parents. Having a chance to talk frankly to their friends about everything can sometimes bring about good advice that parents cannot imagine.
In short, i think that friends have a big influence in young adults. In the future, I think this issue will still continue to be discussed by many people around the world. I hope that people will continue to research and learn more about this issue.
