Meeting of Indian Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh with prime minister of Pakistan Yousuf Raza Geelani, during SAARC summit, is understandable to the people of India, but to declare Geelani, widely regarded as Pakistani Military’s man, as a “man of peace” by our worthy prime minister, forgetting Kashmir turmoil and Mumbai Carnage and also without mentioning the role played by him (Geelani) for world peace, peace in south Asia or for peace in Afganistan, Pakistan and it neighbouring country India, is really surprising, unjustified and un-understandable. This Policy of India towards Pakistan continues to send out contradictory and confusing signals. If same would have been mentioned by Pak PM for Prime Minister of India would have been justified, who initiated dialogue over dialogue to bring peace and develop good relations with Pakistan and other neighboring countries, helped Pakistan to enter UN security council, not vetoed the European Union’s special trade concessions for Pakistan, gave Pak most favored nation (MFN) status fifteen years back and also bailed out Pak at various occasions on the issue of terrorism.
Contrary to it, nothing has been demonstrated in positive by Pak rulers and continue to be rigid, unrealistic and selfish. The politicians run the polity of Pakistan never behaved as a good neighbor and conspired time to time to bleed India by its Indian centric terrorist policies. Not only involved in terrorist activities in India, but also working to disintegrate it. Pak also continue to keep its terror option open, while demanding engagement with India under false arguments. They refused to take firm action and discernible steps against hard core terrorists present at their soil, who are directly responsible for Mumbai carnage and for Kashmir turmoil. This all indicates that Pakistan has no intention of discarding terrorism as an instrument of state policy. Even with USA, Pakistan still plays games, continuing to shield it own militant proxies, despite coming under American pressure. If powerful USA has been unable to rein in Pakistan’s actions in Afganistan, can India realistically persuade Pakistan to go after the terrorist groups, it has nurtured. Demonstrating its cunning attitude, Pak at one hand keeping Indian leaders engaged in the name of dialogue and at the other hand it is augmenting and consolidating its offensive potentials on the borders with India and also upgrading military logistics together with china on their borders with India in tandem with each other.
At the other hand, India, instead of taking advantage of new US sport light on Pakistan’s roguish conduct, is doing exactly opposite to it by commenting on uninterruptible dialogue and seeking to write a new chapter of peace, forgetting that Kashmir is not debatable issue to improve between the two countries and terrorism was an outstanding issue improve Indo-Pak relationship, when for the both, Pak is not ready to compromise. It is demand of the time for Indian nation to revive its policy towards Pakistan and to be very much alert, vigilant and cautious for the double edged policies and cunning strategies of Pakistan. India also need to develop more textured policies towards Pakistan and avoid to be flexible and not succumb under the pressure of pro-Pak and pro-Azadi forces and lobbies.
