Why Prepaid Cell Phones are on the Rise Among Teens in Developing World

I think cell phone is an amazing invention of science and technology. Simply, because in today’s world it’s just impossible to stay disconnected from the world. Gradual advancement in the cell phone technology has shrunk the world along with facilitating our lives. Along with adults, nowadays, even kids use cell phones. Nokia N95, LG cell phones, Samsung cell phones, iphones are highly popular among the teenagers and kids.

Teenagers and kids of today’s times can be rightly called as “digital kids” since they have an excellent grasp of technology and have surpassed adults in the usage of highly advanced cell phones. Parents and adults might be struggling to understand the functions of a regular cell phone but the teenagers and kids play with complicated functions. They can easily stay in touch with their friends and family. Parents, too, encourage their kids to use cell phones since it makes the process of ‘staying in touch’ convenient for them.

GSM phones such as Nokia N95 which is also equipped with wifi connection is preferred by teenagers to surf internet. GSM and wifi equipped phones offer easier connection due to wireless internet technology. GSM and wifi phones are also highly popular in kids due to their flexibility of use and high range of facilities they offer.

The other reasons to use GSM and Wifi phones are for being in vogue. GSM and wifi phones are the style statement for kids. Parents encourage their kids too for buying the latest cell phones. But staying in vogue can sometimes be very inconvenient. People tend to buy locked cell phones as they come with great plans and discounts. However, the drawbacks that are quite serious are more than usually neglected.

Locked phones accept only a certain carrier and hence, do not offer you the flexibility to switch the carrier. To get those cheap rates and discounts, a two year contract is needed to be signed and termination of which can cost an enormous amount. There is no guarantee that the unlocking of the previously locked phone will result in proper functioning.

Unlocked phones, however, can work with any carrier. The other benefit of having an unlocked phone is that it is not restricted by boundaries. You can use any SIM card and prepaid card in it while traveling internationally.

Kids and teenagers prefer postpaid services and locked cell phones to prepaid phones.

One of the biggest drawbacks of postpaid or billing phones is that the kids tend to make unlimited phone calls, text messages etc. Therefore, due to the limitless usage the bill amount is uncontrollable. Hence, it is quintessential that the kids use prepaid connection.  Prepaid services are easy to recharge as well as cheap in comparison with the postpaid services.

Today’s digital kids need to understand that if text messaging and calling up friends is cool then using prepaid and unlocked phones amazingly beneficial. Introduction of teenager’s money management system will help both the parents and the kids to stay in touch easily and economically.

Reputed third party vendors such as Sprint, AT &T and Verizon Wireless also offer great discounts and good cell phone plans. AT & T provides SIM card enabled phone prepaid service while the other two provide CDMA enabled phone prepaid service.

US cellular is one such amazing company that has an excellent network in the entire country. US cellular is successfully serving over 5.3 million customers in 149 markets and 25 states. You can choose any cheap and affordable cell phone plans offered by US cellular.

In recent times, 3G technology has widened the boundaries of cell phone technology. Wireless technology and wide-range network are the highlighting points of 3G technology. Verizon Wireless network was the second company of the United States to have inculcated 3G technology.

Parents and kids can conveniently take advantage of the benefits that cell phones offer , if they are little cautious in the choices that they make.
