Mercy Nnadi, a Lagos based housewife was recently inflicted with a 3rd degree burn by no other persons than her husband of many years. The media in Nigeria, obviously rattled by the callous and barbaric incident cleared their front pages for the story.
Media heat generated over the reports seems to have work wonders as a number of prominent persons, non governmental organizations and groups have come to the aid of the woman, who is presently lying praying for more divine interventions at a private hospital in Okota area of Lagos.
Our reporter learnt over the weekend that the wife of the Akwa Ibom state governor, Mrs Uloma Akpabio sent a delegation with N100, 000 to visit the lady at her hospital bed in Lagos. Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos also sent some money, toiletries and gift items to the woman, even as a lady, who wished to remain anonymous, donated N60, 000 to the housewife.
Dr Eze Nwachukwu, medical director of New Era Hospital in Okota, Lagos said Mercy is responding well to treatment, even as his husband is presently being drilled by homicide police officers at SCID in Panti, Lagos.
