2009 WORLD SERIES OF POKER
PLAYER OF THE YEAR 07/29/2009
Jeffrey Lisandro has won the 2009 World Series of Poker Player of the Year Award.
Four of the six top players won multiple Bracelets this year in a closely contested race to the finish. The finish was the Main Event and Ville Wahlbeck had a chance of taking it down had he finished 7th or better in the Main Event. It did not happen so Lisandro is the winner. Phil Ivey came close and even with being a member of the ‘November Nine’ and should he win the Main Event, he will still come up 13 points short of the title. Lisandro won three WSOP Bracelets, four final tables and six cashes in the 2009 World Series of Poker. Phil Ivey and Ted Forrest are the only two other players who have won three Bracelets in one year. Phil did it in 2002 and Ted in 1993.
