Wipro Technologies, the flagship global IT services business of Wipro Ltd, has won the global enterprise award instituted by Teleos, a US-based knowledge management and intellectual capital firm.
In a statement here Tuesday, the IT bellwether said the company was chosen for the Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE) award by a panel of Fortune 500 executives and management experts and ranked first in the IT sector in creating an environment for ollaborative knowledge.
Teleos study recognises global organisations for creating shareholder wealth by transforming enterprise knowledge and intellectual capital into superior products, services and solutions.
"The award winners transform organisational knowledge into wealth-creating ideas, products and solutions. They are building portfolios of intellectual capital to out-perform their global competitors.
Wipro Technologies has emerged as a leading knowledge-driven organization. If the software major maintains the momentum and focus, it could be on its way to being ‘a global top five’ in its business sector over the next three years," Teleos managing director Rory Chase stated. The award was presented to Wipro at the World Knowledge Forum, held in Seoul, South Korea, recently.
Commenting on the award, Wipro Technologies chief quality officer Sambuddha Deb said in a knowledge intensive business like IT, effective knowledge management was a significant differentiator, especially when enterprises expand their presence across geographies.
"The award is an affirmation of our strategy to make Wipro a great learning organisation," Deb said.
"This is an affirmation of our mature knowledge management practices that are on par with the best in the world."
Wipro implemented a web-enabled portal built on Microsoft sharepoint to manage documented knowledge and operate virtual communities of practice.
