In what has come as a shocking news-story, an Australian woman has been charged with shooting down her husband, chopping off his limbs and hiding his head in a concrete filled cooler fifteen years after her husband mysteriously went missing in 1992. Joyce Chant, 57, appeared in a Liverpool courtroom Wednesday with her son, Jamie Chant, 34, who is accused of helping her dispose of Wayne Chant’s body parts, The Sydney Morning Herald reported Thursday. The torso of Wayne Chant was discovered wrapped in a bedsheet near a truck stop. Two legs and a left arm were found later. Australian Police officials in Liverpool allege Jamie Chant dumped his father’s head and hands — which his mother had kept in two containers filled with concrete — in 1993 or 1994. Joyce Chant had maintained her husband disappeared, but she and her son allegedly confessed to police after their Tuesday arrest, prosecutors said in court. Jamie Chant also allegedly admitted killing a former girlfriend in 1997. The lawyer for Joyce Chant said that she was trapped in a violent marriage and called Wayne Chant "a violent alcoholic who kept loaded guns in the house and family car." Joyce and her son resorted to these measures to protect themselves.
