It’s rare to examine documents that contain insights of demonic possession, especially those written from a first person perspective. But such was the case recently when I was reading the book: “The Rite, The Making of a Modern Day Exorcist”, by Matt Baglio.
On page 198 of the text, a woman describes the agony, confusion and pain of what it feels like to be “possessed” or indwelt by a demonic entity.
In demonic possession, the Devil takes temporary control of a person’s body, speaking and acting through that person’s body.
What she describes is absolutely horrific:
“One again I felt like I was splitting, dividing between my own sensations and ‘his’. If I closed my eyes I could see in my mind’s eye that we were in a deep shadow and so I knew that the light that was embracing me was a spiritual one. Closing my eyes again, I could perceive that the same light was stabbing the eyes of the monster like a thousands swords.”
“Meanwhile the monster was screaming, moving like crazy, saying that the veil of Mary (whom he referred to as “that one”) was suffocating him and causing him a huge amount of pain, to the point of causing him to go into terrible indescribable spasms. Towards the end he launched a scream as he never did before and I felt rent in two, as if somebody turned me inside out” (source: “The Rite”, testimony of Beatrice, a forty year old married woman, pg 198).

Note: Father Bamonte, believes Beatrice’s involvement with the occult opened her up to a curse placed on her while she was on holiday. During the exorcism her face would contort, with her lips turning black and sometimes curling inward, seeming to disappear.
