Office Bearers elected. HRMC office established at Mastuj.
CHITRAL: Office bearers of Human Rights Monitoring Committee (HRMC) elected at Mastuj Chitral to monitor and control human and women rights violations at Mastuj area the most backward and remote locality of the district. In this connection a proper meeting was held under the chair of Niaz Ali Shah Project Coordinator of Easy & Equitable Access to Justice Program for women of Chitral funded by TROCAIRE Ireland. Ghulam Ali Shah Advocate human rights activist of Tehsil Mastuj, Mir Aziz Councilor of Union council Mastuj Miss Shakira Naz, Miss Ashrafi Bibi, Miss Shahira Khan and other, also attended the meeting. They discussed different matters and urged on establishment of Human Rights Monitoring Committee (HRMC) office at Mastuj Tehsil. This area office for Human and Women rights will strictly monitor and analyze human rights cases. In case of any violation case will be forwarded by HRMC Mastuj to Booni or main office Chitral for free trial in the court and for legal assistance to oppressed and needy people. It was also decided in the meeting that honorary members would be elected from far-flung areas of Mastuj Tehsil like Broghul, Brep, Yarkhun Lasht etc to strengthen its network and to support and inform HRMC Mastuj office. A large number of women folk also attended the meeting and they unanimously elected the following office bearers unopposed.

Implementation of Women Protection Bill and Illegal Dispossession Act demanded at Chitral.
Human Rights Activist of Chitral Chapter demanded from the President of Pakistan for immediate implementation of Women Protection Bill (WPB) act and Illegal Dispossession Act (IDA) at Chitral. They said that due to no implementation of WPB and IDA women folk and poor people facing numerous problems. They said that women folk are arresting by local police and sending to prison for judicial remand due to no implementation of WPB even they are being sending to jail in some bail able cases they added. They said that according to WPB women could be kept behind the bar in any case except involved in any terrorism, murder or financial corruption case. They said that according to article 147 of constitution of Pakistan for implementation of any new law passed/approved by the legislative body (parliament) it can implement in Provincial Administrative Tribal Area (PATA) only after proper notification of the President of Pakistan and Chitral also is a part of PATA. They said that despite passing WPB by the parliament it could not extended at Chitral despite lapse of one year. They appeal to Asif Ali Zardari President of Pakistan for issuing of notification for immediate implementation of WPB and IDA at Chitral.
