WonderWorks Destiny recently announced its two biggest summer programs to date, the WonderKid awards program and a science summer camp. The interactive science center and amusement park features hands-on exhibits that educate and entertain the entire family. WonderWorks has launched these programs in an effort to increase STEM awareness and award those students who are going above and beyond in their community.
WonderWorks first science summer camp will take place from July 20 through July 25. 2015. Campers will be invited to experience science first-hand. Daily activities will include lessons on earth, space, the body, and more. The camp was designed for ages 5 to 10 and one full week costs only $250.00.
“Our camps provide a wonderful experience for students,” explains Susan E. Frese, the marketing director at WonderWorks. “They provide an interactive experience that is fun and informative. Those who attend them will get a lot out of them.”
The 2nd annual WonderKid Awards Program expands its reach by offering teachers in Onondaga County to nominate their students. Nomination categories include the future scientist award, service to community award, and academic excellence award. The chosen winners will receive an amazing prize bundle donated from local businesses. Nominations are currently being accepted through the WonderWorks website and an award ceremony will be held on June 20th to recognize all nominees, and the winners of each category.
The indoor family amusement park continues to create new ways to recognize and inspire science based education for students of all ages. Both events are currently listed on the WonderWorks website and available to participate in.
“Continuous improvement of STEM education is critical to global leadership of the United States. Future innovations in technology, engineering and medicine depend on our ability to get children excited about science today,” says Ivan V. Korendovych, Ph.D., an assistant professor of chemistry at Syracuse University.
